Obituary

LUCKEY, Ray Age 78, of Monroe, Ohio went to be with Jesus, his Lord and Savior on Monday, February 18, 2008 at 6:45 p.m. at VITAS Hospice, Dayton, Ohio. He was born January 16, 1930 in Gary, Indiana and lived in Ohio for 40 years. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He studied at the Chicago Conservatory of Music. He was a musician and comedian for 25 years, touring the country, and also performing locally and for private parties. He taught classical guitar to many students. His greatest joy came from using his talent for the Lord. He was the founder of the Guitar Society with the late Ralph Barker and Chuck Schultz, playing at several local restaurants including the Blue Goose and the Golden Lamb. He was a member of the First Church of God, Monroe, Ohio. He was interested in aviation and had his private pilot's license, enjoyed painting with water colors, woodworking and carpentry work. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Mary (McQuaide) Luckey; brother, Austin Luckey and sister, Wanda Hursch. He is survived by his wife of 23 years in March, Sheila Luckey, who he always called "The love of his life"; his son, Raymond Luckey, Jr. of Jennings, Florida and Alfie Luckey of Hamilton; stepson, Jeff Day of West Carrollton; granddaughter, Morgan Day, who was "the joy of his life"; brother, Cecil Luckey of Madeira and sister, Winifred Keller of Hebron, Indiana; as well as many nieces and nephews, family and friends. A Memorial Service will be held March 1, 2008 at 2:00 p.m., at the First Church of God, 100 East Ave., Monroe, Ohio, with Pastor Terry Ball and Mike Devaney officiating. A time of fellowship will follow the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First Church of God, 100 East Ave., Monroe, Ohio 45050. Arrangements by Herr-Riggs Funeral Home, 210 S. Main St., Middletown.
