Obituary

Christine (Hunter) Woodfin, age 85, departed this earthly life on Saturday, December 3, 2022 at 9:30 am at the Meadow Grove Transitional Care Center.

Christine was born on November 4, 1937 in Statham, Georgia. She was the fifth child born to the late Melvin and Lola Mae Kinney-Hunter. She shared a birthday with her older sister Barbara Moon who welcomed her little sister with a pinch on the leg for ruining her fifth birthday. That pinched instilled a love of family that followed Christine all of her life.

She grew up in Canton, Ohio and returned to Georgia where she graduated from Brian High School in 1957. She then moved to Middletown, Ohio where she married and started her family. She tired to Chillicothe, Ohio in March 2000 after 24 years of employment at Armco Steel Corp. Since October 2016, she was a resident of Meadow Grove Transitional Center where she was greatly loved.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Maria Louise Parson; four sisters; Mary Louise McKnight, Barbara Elouis Moon, Ethel Lucille Pate and Melvenia Hunter-Farrow and two brothers, Ulysee Hunter and Lenon Hunter, Sr.

She leaves to cherish her memory: three sons, David Vinson Jr. of Hedgesville, WV, Dwight Vinson (Sarina) of Lexington, KY and Frank Parson Jr. (Jill) of Cincinnati, OH; two daughters, Marcia Vinson of Martinsburg, WV and Natalie Vinson-Edwards (Ronald) of Grove City, OH; one brother, James Hunter (Sarah) of Athens, GA; two sisters-in-law, Anna (Ulysee) and Viola (Lemon) Hunter of Middletown, OH; nine grandchildren, David and Leah Vinson, Christopher, Marcus and Anthony Edwards, LaShaya Lewis, Jasmine and Dwight Vinson Jr. and Brandon Parson; two great grandchildren and a host of cousins, newphews, nieces and friends.

Prior to her death in 2014, Maria Parson, Christine’s youngest daughter was a constant companion to her mother. In 2000, the two of them moved to Chillicothe, Ohio where they worshipped at Zion Baptist Church (Pastor Dr. J. Troy Gray) and previously First Baptist Church (Pastor Eric Carson and Dr. Jonathan McReynolds). She constantly shared her poetry with family members and friends. Within this program are two of her poems. One is a tribute to Mother and the other a tribute to family.

Instead of flowers, the family of Christine Woodfin requests that you to express your love to those you value ... or make a donation to your local Hospice organization.
